Celebration of Loving Service

On Friday evening, July 4, we will share in the experience of a Celebration of Loving Service, a participatory worship event, that will be aligned with the conference theme of The Thrill of Loving Service.

The Celebration of Loving Service is a revolutionary form of interfaith, multi-cultural and intergenerational worship that welcomes the sacred into body, mind, heart and spirit. Surrounded by multi-media imagery and sounds drawn from ancient traditions as well as modern music, celebrants share a transformational experience through dance, prayer, song and silent reflection. We will collaborate to create this event, gathering musicians, artists, poets, photographers, visual artists, technicians, representatives from service organizations, spiritual ceremonialists and willing volunteers to bring this celebration to the larger community.

The flow of our event will honor the joy and beauty of service, explore the darkness that creates the need for service, connect with the creative nature of service, and build community through the transformational spirit of service. The process of creating this celebration begins with artists within the community coming forward to co-create. Steve Rohrbach and Edina Preucel from Common Spirit, a Colorado based non profit that specializes in interfaith events, are your celebration hosts and will help to organize and guide the development of our creative experience. For more information about Common Spirit and the Loving Celebration?s we've held in the past, see our website, http://www.commonspirit.org/tcc.html

Here is a list of the types of volunteer co-creators we will need for the celebration

Artists to create altars

  • Musicians - drummers, guitarists, DJ's - we will also need some pre-recorded music for the gathering and ending periods
  • Singers (chant leaders, songs where people can sing along)
  • Dancers or movement leaders
  • Worship or ritual leaders
  • Visual artists who can display Urantian art - optimally through digital projection
  • Poets, storytellers
  • Geeks (computer, electronics, technicians) to help organize the projections & with set up
  • Generally helpful people for the 50 little tasks that will help this event come together!

If you feel called to collaborate and serve in this celebration, please contact Steve Rohrbach @ 303.579.7646 or steverohrbach@earthlink.net or Edina Preucel at 303.666.9415, Epreucel@aol.com - we'll be hosting an inaugural planning conference call in mid February.
