UBExplorers (ages 4-11)

The Jerusalem Marketplace will come alive for children 4-11 at IC08! Children will enter the life and times of Jesus in a market place of shops, just like Jesus might have strolled through. Dramas will unfold at the well, stories will be told in the temple. Children will be able to choose a shop to apprentice or work in, moving from shop to shop at their own pace, making pottery, jewelry, rope and nets, even using carpenter tools like Jesus might have used. Games and songs will add to the fun. Costumes and props make the environment an exciting experience. Join us for a meet and greet in the marketplace, Tuesday, July 1, 7-8 P.M.

Godly Play, A new addition to our children's program!

Each morning, the children will meet for a Godly Play story, crafts, singing and recreation time. Godly Play is an approach to spiritual development and education that provides a wonderful way to share the stories of our faith in ways that allow us to enter the stories "as little children" and discover the riches that are waiting there for all of us.The stories are told with simple props and without interpretation or moral instruction. After a story is presented, the children and the storyteller wonder together about aspects of the story that draw their interest. They then will have time to respond to the story with an activity of their choice such as crafts, puzzles, games and art projects. Recreation time and Yoga for Kids will round out the morning.

The goal of Godly Play at IC08 is to teach children parables and stories from the Urantia Book in ways that help them come close to God on their own terms.

Pato Banton will be singing with us!

Pato will join the UBexplorers each day to teach us a song. We will perform at the Saturday plenary!

The Urantia Book Fellowship Truthseekers Excursion!!

Tourist info for Catalina Island

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 we will board a flying catamaran destination - the mysterious island of Cat (or as known in Celtic mythology as "Katte"). In the old days it was said that the only way to reach the island of Katte was with the assistance of a Druid, while holding your thumb and forefinger to the light and seeing the island that forms between them when they are close together. From this perspective you are now ready to embark upon a life changing journey that will lead you to amazing adventures, thrilling delights, dastardly dangers, and mysterious moments. We will explore a dark and haunted sea cavern where a portal opens from another dimension. Legend describes this cave as being inhabited by a race of sinister characters. (Tom wrote this, as you probably can tell.)

You will be building life-long friendships with the other TRUTHSEEKERS during this time, as well as with Tom, Fred and their minions.

This is an invitation for all past present and future TRUTHSEEKERS (ages 14-19) to come play with Fred and Tom on an island in the Pacific.

Hiking, campfires, camping, snorkeling, sea kayaking, sailing, swimming, cavern exploration, singing, stargazing, rocking out at the local village (accessible only at night through the cliff portal past the lair of the darkness on the ledge of no return).

We will assemble at the Long Beach ferry facility on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 and will be shuttled to the island where we will set up camp. Tents and cots will be provided, so you only need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. We will stay on the island until Friday, July 4, when we will hop the ferry back to Long Beach and then we will go to UCLA to the Urantia Conference where we will perform a short play that we will have rehearsed while on the island.

During our stay on Catalina Island, we will get to know each other better, spend time snorkeling, boating and swimming, hiking and exploring. You are encouraged to bring musical instruments so that we can sing around the campfires at night as we also check out the galaxies above us without the distraction of city lights. The number of people that can attend this event is limited to 40 TRUTHSEEKERS, so sign up soon if you want to go. And you do want to go, believe us.

Urantia Kids

CONTACTS:

PS, if there are any adults that want the privilege of assisting, we will hold a lottery to see who gets to participate. Bribes will be accepted and are encouraged to help subsidize scholarships for the young adults that would not otherwise be able to attend.

Tweens Program

What do tweens do the best? Help people of course! They are the greatest helpers ever. Because they have so much natural talent, we are going on a service adventure. The Volunteer Center will be staffed with tweens and equipped with beverages, snacks, and the latest video equipment and games with coaching by young adult readers. All tweens that sign up get two free white t-shirts with the Fellowship logo. They will be working with the stage crews, filming talks, working with computers, and helping workshop leaders set up AV equipment. Tweens will arrive 15 minutes before plenaries and/or afternoon workshops and will work with a buddy. Adult leaders will oversee their assignments and activities and parents will check them in and out. The Jerusalem Marketplace will also have activities the tweens might wish to participate in.
